About Vote Climate

The world's first dedicated climate election website

With several of earth's climate systems, critical in maintaining a safe stable climate, having already begun to fail, such as the North Pole Arctic summer ice, it has been obvious for a number of years that humanity's impact on climate change has already reached a crisis point.

Unfortunately this message has not reached or been accepted by the general public. It has been held back by a deliberate misinformation and propaganda campaign from the fossil fuel industries, groups of politicians and media who parrot this misinformation, and the mainstream environment and social movements which refuse to tell the public how bad it actually is.

Vote climate is one of a growing number of movements, groups and websites that are redressing this problem.

Established by Adrian Whitehead in 2006, Vote Climate seeks to provide voters with detailed policy analysis and voting recommendations relating to climate change. Our analysis is based on available policy as the primary source, and as a secondary source, public documents and public statements.

Policies are assessed against measures needed to prevent runaway climate change and recreate a safe, stable climate.

To achieve this we must create a global cooling in order to reverse the collapse of key climate stabilisation systems and prevent runaway global warming.

Sadly, we have little, if any time to make the large scale changes needed to reduce atmospheric greenhouse gases to create a global cooling, but fortunately all the technology we need to do this has been developed and just needs to be implemented. (1)

Unfortunately these solutions are opposed by vast corprorate interests, with their profits linked directly to the production of greenhouse gases and maintenance of business as usual economics (2). These corporations use their influence to prevent meaningful action by governments and people all around the world.

Against this influence stands a growing grass roots movement, made up of people such as yourself, who are taking personal action and adopting climate friendly lifestyles, such as consuming less, learning about permaculture and growing your own food, and while also voting for candidates running with strong climate policy.

It is now as race against time to see which group prevails.

(2) Our current economic system creates money as interest bearing debt. This means there is not enough money in the system to pay the debt unless someone else expands the monetary base by borrowing more money and creating more debt. Consequently the system is based on a constant growth and when that growth inevitability stops and stalls, the system begins to break down, which we know as recessions or depressions. This constant growth is an ecological impossibility on a finite planet and has already pushed our life styles beyond earth's carrying capacity. For example one estimate states that we would require four earths if the world population was to live at Australian standards. A new type of economics must be developed as part of the climate change solution, one that no longer is dependent on constant growth.

Your Vote will determine the future you live in.
